The Dominican Republic continues to show that it is the strongest team so far in the 2021 Mazatlán Caribbean Series but just like yesterday with Mexico, today they suffered in the ninth inning against Panama, who they defeated anyway.
In the first inning there was a run by side, driven by Cabrera (DOM) and López (PAN), respectively.
Dominican Republic threw a three-race rally in the fourth. At the top of the fifth the house was filled and with a single hit they entered three more runs with a grounder to the left by Francisco Peña. And then Lagares produced again. Everyone batted in that inning and the score was already 8-1.
The score was widened in the 8th with two extra runs and then another in the 9th, for an outrageous score of 11-1 that would have been the biggest of this series.
But Panama filled the house in the bottom of the 9th and managed to connect a five-race rally. Four entered with singles and another entered on a walk. That attack was not enough. The match ended 11-6.
The Dominicans are first with 3-0 and Panama has a 2-1 record, second so far. Tonight Puerto Rico or Mexico will also have a 2-1 record after their match.
