Charlotte Bankes (ENG, GBR) and Lucas Eguibar (ESP) won the gold medals in the individual Snowboard Cross at the World Championships in Idre Fjäll (SWE).
Bankes won the gold medal for women. She took the “Big Final” from the start, over Michela Moioli (ITA), Eva Samkova (CZE) and Belle Brockhoff (AUS), who fell.
Lucas Eguibar (ESP) won the Men’s Final. He was second after the first few corners and then Grondin (CAN) passed him, while Alessandro Hämmerle (AUT) was first.
Eguibar’s closure was frantic. On the last straight with jumps he achieved a great pace and in a spectacular closing the Spaniard could barely win in a photo finish over Hämmerle, Grondin and Jakob Dusek (AUT).
