Italian soccer’s Serie A concluded its Matchday 27 of 38 with interesting results for the definition of leadership in the league.
On Sunday morning, Inter Milan managed to extend their lead in the table after defeating Torino 1-2.
Lukaku (BEL) scored a penalty at 62 ‘, Antonio Sanabria (PRY) discounted for Torino and finally Lautaro Martínez (ARG) gave Inter the lead, extending their lead in Serie A by nine points.
This advantage is maintained thanks to the performance of Gennaro Gattuso’s Napoli, who managed to defeat AC Milan 0-1 with a single goal from Napolitano (ITA).
Milan remains in second place while Napoli reaches fifth, fifteen points behind the leader but two behind Atalanta and the Champions League, with a game pending.
Hirving Lozano (MEX, Napoli) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (SWE, Inter), key figures from their respective teams, were absent.
But perhaps it was the current third place in the table that takes the top honors of the weekend. Juventus defeated Caglari 1-3 with three goals from Cristiano Ronaldo (POR) in the first half: at 10 ‘, 25’ (from penalty) and at 32 ‘.
This result is very important. It is a shock for the “Vecchia Signora”, who just last week was out of the Champions League after losing against Porto.
The level shown today by Ronaldo and the fact that Andrea Pirlo will have, for the first time in a long time, a full week of work with his team, can give them hope of still being able to overcome the 10 points to Inter, although frankly it looks complicated.
