The Florida Players Championship (PGA Tour) is a tournament where it is extremely difficult to win twice. Justin Thomas (USA) continued the trend of having new winners in the tournament, taking the 2021 edition.
Thomas had two days of 71 and it was difficult to think that he would win the tournament. But what he did in the third what he did was spectacular, shooting for 64, the best card of the weekend.
He was not in the final group but his Sunday’s 68 card was enough to ensure the victory, with a final score of 14 strokes under par. In the last group Bryson DeChambeau (USA) and Lee Westwood (ENG) needed to secure an Eagle on the last hole to be able to aspire to the playoff but they did not make it.
In fact, DeChambeau missed the last putt that would have given him the solitary second place: the ball literally went around almost the entire circumference of the hole but did not enter.
Westwood did hit it and closed with 13 shots under par, ahead of the American bomber and Brian Harman (USA).
Sergio Garcia (ESP), who had had a spectacular 65-stroke start Thursday, finished tied for ninth, 8 strokes under par.
