Five things to know from what happened in the world of sport. April 6-12, 2021.
  1. Via Reno. Chris Via (USA) won the PBA U.S. Open (Bowling) in Reno, Nevada. It was his first major PBA Title. He edged Jakob Butturff (USA) out by just one point. Third was Anthony Neuer (USA), who became the first bower in three decades to score a 7-10 spare on a live TV broadcast.
  2. Esports. Several major eSports leagues were very active during the weekend. The Toronto Ultra beat Atlanta FaZe -favorites- by 5-3 to win the second Major of the 2021 Call of Duty League season. In Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Heroic (an all-Danish team) beat Gambit Esports (a Russian team that also has a Kazakh player) – both teams had reached the finals unbeaten. League of Legends also saw several regional leagues conclude, giving the winning teams tickets to the Mid-Season Invitational. 
  3. Wins for the World Champions. The weather allowed for the World Surf League’s Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach to take place. The respective Men’s and Women’s World Champions also took the honors in Australia: Italo Ferreira (BRA) and Carissa Moore (USA-HAW).
  4. Swedish Snowcross. Peter Nårsa (SWE) and Hilda Arnesson (SWE) won the one-round FIM Snowcross World Championship, which took place in Finland.
  5. Blackmore wins Grand National. Rachael Blackmore (IRL) became the first woman to win the Grand National, riding Minella Times (IRL), a few weeks after riding six winners at the Cheltenham Festival.
