It has not been the best couple of decades for Athletic Club Bilbao but they are still one of the biggest teams in Spain, as they demonstrated today by defeating Barcelona and winning their third Spanish Super Cup (1984, 2015, 2020/21).

Lionel Messi made a fool of himself in the overtime compensation, with a devious punch on Villalibre. He was sent off. It was not a worthy way to lose.
