Atalanta tried to be brave despite having several casualties prior to their game against Real Madrid but did not avoid being thrashed 3-1 and 4-1 on aggregate, which meant they are now eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.
Real Madrid took advantage from the first half, with a goal from Karim Benzema (FRA) at 34 ‘, which made the Italian team think that advancing to the second half was still a possibility.
Sergio Ramos (ESP) scored at minute 60 with a penalty. Even then, Atalanta continued fighting and discounted at 83 ‘with a goal from Luis Muriel (COL).
That goal did not help much as just a minute later Marco Asensio (ESP) scored another goal. If it weren’t for goalkeeper Marco Sportiello (ITA), another goal would have scored in compensation.
