Mark Selby (ENG) defeated Snooker World Champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan (ENG), to take the 2020 Scottish Open, a ranking event part of the World Snooker Tour. Selby has now won eleven straight ranking event finals appearances, and a second straight Scottish Open. It is also his 19th ranking tournament won.
The last time both players had faced was at the World Championship, where O’Sullivan eliminated Selby in the semi-finals. That time Selby took the early lead and O’Sullivan passed him but this time Selby took the lead early and for good.
World Ranking #1, Judd Trump (ENG) was defeated in a shocker by Li Hang (CHN), 4-5. Wang was further defeated by O’Sullivan.
The next ranking tournament at the World Snooker Tour is the World Grand Prix, which starts tomorrow and features both players.
