This week’s Global Podium for the best sportspeople in the world features Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Yalemzerf Yehualaw, and Therese Johaug.

Gold: Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (Norway, Cross-country skiing) After a very successful participation at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games -where he won two golds, a silver, and a bronze- he resumed World Cup competition by taking the 1.6 km Sprint Freestyle race at the Lahti SkiGames, and placed 2nd in the 15 km Individual Classic, won by Olympic Champion and hometown hero, Iivo Niskanen (FIN). Silver: Yalemzerf Yehualaw (Ethiopia, Athletics) The 22-year-old broke the Women’s 10K World Record in Athletics, winning the Castellón 10K (ESP) with a time of 29:14 minutes, which is 22 seconds faster than the time set by Kalkidan Gezahegne (BHR) at The Giants Geneva (CHE) last October. Bronze: Therese Johaug (Norway, Cross-country skiing) Also coming off a very good Olympic participation -with three gold medals-, Therese Johaug won the 10 Kilometer Classic race at the World Cup event in Lahti (FIN).
